Hi!  Welcome back to #FabulousFriday!  So...just what does it mean to be balanced?  As a yoga teacher, it is often a good question to contemplate.  On a practical note, balance it is a harmonious state that exists when all the elements of one's life are even and that you don't feel that your heart or mind are being pulled too hard in any direction.  More often than not, you can notice that state of harmony exists when you feel calm, grounded, clear minded and motivated.

There are two main categories that exist for equilibrium--internal and external.  Those can be defined in the following ways:

1)  External (Work, Social, Family & Fun)

Work:  Achieving goals and meeting needs

Social:  Social relationships and interactions

Family:  The fulfillment of one of life's masterpieces.  A package of responsibilities and joys.

Fun:  Doing things you enjoy that create meaning and delight

2)  Internal (Mind, Heart & Health)

Mind:  Growing intellectually and developing skills

Heart:  Giving and receiving love

Health:  Maintaining proper nutrition and exercise

Both are very positive, but taken to extremes--can become detrimental.  If you find that you are pulled in any one direction-here are some tips to help you get aligned:

*Evaluate--take some time to examine your life and your feelings.  Be honest with yourself and notice any areas that provide discomfort.

*Reflect--as you contemplate these areas-what is the most important thing or experiences you have accomplished in the past six months?  How do you handle your fears, doubts, worries and negative self talk?

*Empower-maintain a positive mental attitude, set reasonable goals, practice self-care, be fair with yourself and others

*Connect-Is there a person/people or system you can use to keep yourself supported?  Make the time to cultivate community and interconnectedness.  Cherish those people and those times.  Nuture your relationships and life goals.

"Life is about growth and exploration, not achieving a fixed state of balance.  You have a very limited time on earth to experience all that you can.  Figuring out how to squeeze the most out of your family, work, and spirituality is your life's purpose.  Go do it-Mel Robbins
